How to access Network Files from your Mac Using NFAP

(Novell Native File Access Pack)

 

I.  First Time Login Instructions:

 Step 1.  In Mac OS 8 or 9, click the Apple Menu> Chooser > AppleShare> Server IP Address:

In Mac OS X, click Go> Connect to Server> Address: 



2. Enter "HELPDESK" in the space provided and click Connect.

3. Enter your username and password and click Connect.  You will see the following  volume
    listing for the UH server, click cancel and continue with part two below. (Note: User Passwords can not exceed 8 characters).


This login method will set your simple password on the Novell File server and will not have to be repeated after your initial login
unless your Novell password  has been changed.

 

II.  Login Instructions:

 Step 1.  In Mac OS 8 or 9, click the Apple Menu> Chooser > AppleShare> Server IP Address:

In Mac OS X, click Go> Connect to Server> Address: 



2. Enter "Home" for the Netware server and click Connect.

3. Enter your username and password and click Connect. (Note: User Passwords can not exceed 8 characters).

4. Select the desired volume and click ok.  The selected volume will be mounted on the deskop.

    (Home directories and Departmental directories will reside on Home.Staff )

*  This connection will be lost after your system has been rebooted.

For All login's there after:  This login will grant you access to your network resources and will be the only login necessary following your Initial Login to the system unless a password change is made.  Each time a  password change is made, you will need to complete the initial login process again.

 

 

Instructions for Changing Password:

 Step 1.  In Mac OS 8 or 9, click the Apple Menu> Chooser > AppleShare> Server IP Address:

In Mac OS X, click Go> Connect to Server> Address: 



2. Enter "HOME" for the Netware server and click Connect.

3. Enter your username and click Options.

4. Select Change Password.

Note: User Passwords can not exceed 8 characters.

5.  Enter the old password and then the new password.  You will be asked to verify the new password by retyping and then click OK. 

    ** Each time a  password change is made, you will need to complete the initial login process again.
